1. Australia: The East Coast
Route: Sydney to Brisbane (14-21 days)
Best time to visit: September to November or March to May
Australia's East Coast is one of the classic camper routes, combining lively cities, relaxed surf towns and long stretches of coastline. Start your journey in Sydney before making your way north towards Brisbane, with plenty of stops worth making along the way.
Visit well-known towns such as Byron Bay and Noosa, where wide beaches, coastal walking trails and a relaxed pace make it easy to slow down. Along the coast, you'll also find national parks, waterfalls and countless viewpoints, making every driving day feel different from the last.
With relatively short distances between many highlights, this route works well for travellers who want to combine nature, beaches and coastal towns without feeling rushed.
2. Canada: The Canadian Rockies
Route: Vancouver to Banff or Jasper (12–18 days)
Best time to visit: June to September
A road trip through the Canadian Rockies is all about mountain scenery, turquoise lakes and some of Canada's best-marked hiking trails. Start in Vancouver before following the Sea-to-Sky Highway towards Whistler, then continue into the heart of the Rockies.
Visit well-known stops such as Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, Banff National Park and Jasper National Park. Travelling by camper allows you to stay close to nature, wake up surrounded by mountains and begin your hikes before the day gets busy.
Summer is the most popular time to visit, so it's worth booking both your camper and campsites well in advance, especially in Banff and Jasper.
3. USA: California and the National Parks
Route: Los Angeles to San Francisco (14–21 days)
Best time to visit: April to June or September to October
California combines some of America's best-known road trips into one route. Begin in Los Angeles or San Francisco before following the Pacific Coast Highway, where steep cliffs, sandy beaches and ocean views line much of the drive.
From the coast, head inland to explore national parks such as Yosemite, Sequoia and Joshua Tree. Travelling by camper means you can stay close to the parks, giving you more time for scenic walks and sunrise viewpoints without rushing back to a hotel.
This route suits travellers who want to combine lively cities, coastline and some of the country's best-known national parks in one trip.
4. New Zealand: North to South
Route: Auckland to Christchurch (18–24 days)

New Zealand offers some of the most varied scenery of any camper route. From the geothermal landscapes of the North Island to the mountains and fjords of the South Island, every day looks different from the last.
Discover the glowworm caves of Waitomo, the volcanic scenery around Tongariro National Park and the crystal-clear lakes of Lake Tekapo and Lake Pukaki. Continue to Queenstown, Fiordland National Park and Milford Sound, one of the country's most-visited natural landmarks.
If you're planning a one-way journey between the islands, remember to book the Cook Strait ferry well in advance, especially during the summer season.
5. Namibia: Desert Landscapes and Wildlife
Route: Windhoek – Sossusvlei – Swakopmund – Damaraland – Etosha – Windhoek (12–16 days)
Best time to travel: May to October
A road trip through Namibia is unlike anywhere else. Vast desert landscapes, quiet gravel roads and the chance to spot wildlife along the way make this one of the more unusual camper routes you can do.
Start in Windhoek before travelling to the dunes of Sossusvlei, where the sand changes colour as the sun comes up. Continue to the coastal town of Swakopmund, then head inland through the rugged landscapes of Damaraland before finishing in Etosha National Park.
From desert sunsets to wildlife sightings, no two days look the same. While driving distances can be longer than in other destinations, the scenery makes every kilometre worthwhile.
