Paris is the perfect place to start your campervan adventure. There's so much to do and see here. Before (or after) you rent a campervan in Paris, check out all the attractions across the city, such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum (the biggest in the world), and the Notre Dame Cathedral.

Paris is known for having crazy traffic. You have probably seen the pictures around the Arch de Triumph. We don’t recommend you attempt to drive a campervan in Paris unless you are used to this kind of traffic. The best thing to do is to head out into the countryside and experience parts of Paris and France that most people don’t ever get to see, as they just stick to the central parts of Paris.

Best Campervan routes from Paris

Paris to Champagne
This is a nice route. It is only 150km from Paris, which is far enough away from Paris to enjoy the countryside of France if you have a campervan in Paris for a weekend. If you are wondering, Champagne is where the famous fizzy wine comes from, and only wine made in this area can carry the name Champagne. There are plenty of places where you can take tours and sample some famous wines. There are also many old villages here, which are great to stop at along the way.

Paris to Burgundy
Paris to Burgundy is roughly a 300km drive. Take the A6 motorway out of Paris to Burgundy, the heart of France’s wine country. The drive here takes you through some historic countryside. In the Burgundy region is the city of Dijon, which, as the name suggests, is famous for its mustard. Another place is Beaune, known as Burgundy's wine capital.

Paris to Normandy
Take a 200km drive from Paris to Normandy with your campervan that takes you through some of the best scenery in France. Take the A13 motorway from Paris, which offers quite a direct route out of Paris.
Make sure you check out the D-Day beaches, which is where a crucial part of World War 2 took place. Around the area, you could also visit the town of Bayeux, which is home to the Bayeux Tapestry, an 11th-century masterpiece that depicts the events leading up to the Norman Conquest of England in 1066. Normandy is a large and great region to explore in the campervan. Over the other side of Normandy is Mont Saint-Michel which is an abbey on top of a hill that gets cut off by the tide every day.

Sites of interest and excursions in and around Paris

Disney Land
Disneyland is one of the most popular attractions in Europe and is perfect if you have the family with you on your campervan trip to Paris. There are two theme parks inside Disneyland: Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios. Please allow two days to visit both parks. It is popular all year round, but we recommend visiting in early spring or just before Christmas.

Versailles
Versailles is all about the Palace of Versailles, one of the most impressive buildings in the world. It was a royal residence for King Louis XIV and is known for everything being over the top. One of the most famous parts is the Hall of Mirrors, which contains over 350 mirrors and reflects the splendour of the gardens through seventeen arched windows.

Giverny
Giverny is about 75km from Paris and was the home of the famous impressionist painter Claude Monet. His house and gardens are now a museum, the town's main attraction. The gardens are unique, as Monet designed these and include Japanese-inspired landscapes filled with water lilies, a large flower garden. The rest of the town is also really good.
