The campervan wasn’t clean; the mattresses were dirty and had been turned over to hide this. Several items were broken: the wing mirror, a curtain rail snapped in two, and drawers that kept opening whilst we were driving. We had to have the waste water drainage system repaired because it was broken and we couldn’t empty the shower and toilet. The generator kept switching on unexpectedly.

Here are a few comments on my review. - There was still rubbish left in the motorhome from the previous tenants - The fridge was dirty and smelled awful!!! - Overall, the motorhome was grubby; after speaking to the staff, someone came along, gave the place a quick wipe with some wet wipes and then handed us the packet of wet wipes so that, if we noticed anything else, we could sort it out ourselves - The greywater tank could not be completely emptied, which caused a foul odour; we had to empty it more often, had to pay extra and wasted time - The bed on the right was sagging and made noises whilst we were sleeping, which was a huge nuisance for the person affected - The toilet was loose - The fridge could not be powered by mains electricity at the campsite, which in turn led to increased propane consumption and higher costs - The windscreen had a large stone chip on the passenger side, which severely impaired visibility and made it impossible to take photographs whilst driving - The camping table was faulty and could therefore only be used to a limited extent. - The staff in San Francisco were rather unfriendly, which was not what we’re used to in America. - Overall, the motorhome gave the impression of being very run-down. This wasn’t our first holiday with a motorhome from Cruise America, but this time it wasn’t a good experience.

We collected our C21 motorhome from Cruise America in Newark (San Francisco branch) in June 2026. We were met by a stoic lady who did exactly what she had to do, but nothing more, and barely looked at us. Our ‘premium’ package included a complete and clean set of cutlery and pots and pans, clean towels and a pair of old, chlorine-stained blankets (clean). The exterior of the motorhome was checked for dents and scratches; the rear bumper, in particular, had clearly been damaged previously. Most of the damage was noted, and we identified one additional instance of damage, which was marked on our check-in form without any issues. The interior was not inspected, and we were sent on our way. During our travels, we found the motorhome to be plenty spacious for two people with luggage, and the engine powerful enough to drive up steep hills and in temperatures of 43°C and above. The air conditioning whilst driving was also very effective. The toilet worked and the shower was really warm; the hob worked well and the sink was fine. The ride was a bit bumpy and quite difficult to keep the vehicle in the middle of the road. Annoyingly, the tyre pressure sensor was faulty, so every single time we drove, it started beeping; we even stopped at a tyre centre to check the pressure, which was fine. Most of our problems were with the interior: the roof-mounted air conditioning didn’t work, which forced us to book a hotel room during our stay in Las Vegas; two of the kitchen drawer bases fell out after a few days, and we realised this had happened before when we pulled out old food, extra cutlery and plates from behind the cupboard; there was a hole in the vinyl flooring; the shower door handle leaked water into the living area whilst showering; a handle on another cupboard came loose; the heating unit was held shut with tape (applied by Cruise America) On the outside, we found the following problems: the waste hose was too short and did not come with suitable fittings; the waste hose storage was not secure, so we had to buy duct tape; the mains water tap did not connect properly and leaked outwards (probably because the inlet was bent – which we noticed whilst trying to fix the drawers). To end on a positive note, we were late returning the motorhome and they waived the late fee. However, this did not cover our hotel costs, the time spent fixing the drawers, mopping up water from the living quarters, and fiddling with the waste water hose or other minor issues. All in all, the motorhome drove well, got us where we wanted to go, the bed was comfortable enough and the fuel economy was decent, but it is clear that the motorhome we were given was due for maintenance or replacement. The customer service provided by Camperdays whilst booking and amending our booking was excellent. Customer service at Cruise America was distant, slow and I feel we were insufficiently compensated for all the issues we encountered and experienced along the way.

We spent a month travelling in the motorhome and were very happy with it. As there were only two of us, we had plenty of space. What’s more, the motorhome was small enough to fit into most standard car parking spaces. I’d choose it again in a heartbeat. Excellent value for money.

An older vehicle, but very well-equipped and reliable. Efficient pick-up and drop-off process. Make sure you check the equipment you’re given when you pick up the vehicle (in our case, the crockery was incomplete).

Great little camper van for a road trip. We travelled around south-west America in it for a month. We had the smallest model (C-class). Enough space for two people. Easy to park and suitable for getting to more difficult locations. If you are travelling with more people, I would recommend a larger model. Everything worked fine except for the water heater. It takes a long time to heat up and then only produces lukewarm water. So we didn't use this function. The explanation when picking it up was very brief. It is very important to watch the instruction video carefully! The reception could also be a bit more welcoming. But overall, we had a great experience.

Very dirty vehicle. Two out of three stowaways not working. Fridge sliding out of its position while driving. Sewage leaking after a few toilet flushes. Had to stop at Cruise America near Las Vegas, hoping for the issues to be fixed, but they said they couldn't do anything. We lost about 3 hours. Very good engine, brakes and tyres, but vehicle way too old, with so much noise coming from the back while on the road. At least, the manager at Cruise America San Francisco was super kind when we returned the RV.

The age of the vehicle is promised in the rental conditions as "0-2 years". However, it already had 50,000 miles on it when we took it over, which seems to us to be a very high level of use for 0-2 years. Accordingly, everything was a bit of a "lottery". When we picked it up, we had to wait almost 2 hours for our turn, despite having made an appointment by phone.

Our 6th time with El Monte. Sometimes you're lucky and sometimes unlucky. The RV was not properly cleaned inside and the condition was only OK after 44k miles. The fridge was battery operated and therefore not well suited for primitive campgrounds (the engine always has to be started). However, El Monte was very accommodating, which surprised us in a very positive way.

The briefing by the technician in San Francisco was excellent. The documentation of the data was correct in the written version, but stored differently in the computer system. This turned out to be the case when it was handed in. However, the paper format was then respected on delivery. Recommendation: always take a photo of the generator status on departure. The refrigerator and the air conditioning showed temperature problems after only three days. Fridge/freezer compartment broke down several times. Food spoilt accordingly. The air conditioning was no longer usable at all in the last three days. Presumption that the coolant had not been topped up accordingly. Not so nice at 38 degrees outside temperature. The return in Denver went smoothly and was very friendly. All in all, the motorhome was in excellent condition. We had booked a 23 feet Womo and received a 25 feet motorhome, with slideout and awning.

Rented from EL MONTE SFO branch and returned to LAX branch. The vehicle is noisy, the finish is crude, it's far from top of the range. But it does the job, and the value for money is decent. The 2 rental agencies are top-notch, the staff are pleasant, and the check-in and drop-off processes are pretty straightforward.

Vehicle in good condition, everything works, the only minus point is the abnormal consumption of the petrol engine, which is 22 - 23 L / 100km, which is no longer up to date for the size of the vehicle. Otherwise, solar panels on the roof, compressor refrigerator, etc. everything is fine.

Fantastic motorhome for our West Coast tour We spent a week exploring the West Coast in October with the Family Freedom Thor 21Z and we are absolutely thrilled. The motorhome exceeded our expectations in every way. The comfort is truly first-class. Despite its compact 21-foot size, you don't feel cramped, and the amenities leave nothing to be desired. Everything you need is there – and honestly, much more. The kitchen is fully equipped, the beds are comfortable, and the layout is well thought out. We were particularly impressed by the efficiency of the gas consumption. In seven days, we only used a third of the tank, even though we used the heating almost every night and had hot water every day. The fresh water tank is also huge, so you can be self-sufficient for several days without having to refill it. The storage space is phenomenal. We travelled with a toddler and a lot of luggage, but there was still endless space. Every corner is used intelligently, and there are practical storage compartments everywhere. My only downside: as a German, I wish we had something like this with a B driving licence. This vehicle shows how comfortable and practical motorhomes can be without needing a truck driving licence. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to explore the USA in a motorhome!

We were nervous when we first picked this up as we thought we'd made a mistake getting something so big but after we got used to driving it about we were so relieved to have chosen family freedom. It was our wee home for a month and it was so lovely to come back to after a day of exploring. Plenty room to cook and chill out in. Loved that we didn't have to set up a bed every night. It was comfortable for long drives also. Only downside was parking it in some places. Not every place we visited accommodated for this size of RV and that was quite a challenge. The entire pick up and drop off was incredibly simple. We drove Heidi for miles and miles and she did not let us down. Would absolutely choose this service and this size again for future travels and adventures.

The vehicle itself was in good condition, only 29,000 km, new tyres, everything clean. However, a cover for the awning and the flap for the generator were missing when the vehicle was handed over. The waste water drain plug was replaced when the vehicle was handed over. The battery was flat, so the awning did not work. The waste water sensor did not work properly and displayed 3/4 full although the tank was empty. Therefore, you could not rely on the display. LPG tank and petrol tank were only 2/3 full. In addition, the grate on the cooker was broken. So much for the condition of the vehicle when it was handed over. During the journey we damaged the passenger door. There was no telephone number we could call. A visit to Roadsurfer in Las Vegas was no help either, as we were turned away by an unfriendly employee with the words that we would have to organise a repair ourselves and bear the costs ourselves. Roadsurfer USA Support told us to contact Camping World, but Camping Word Las Vegas was closed for the next 4 days. We were supposed to be called back, which never happened. Furthermore, communication by email was not fluent. In the meantime, we only received a reply from Roadsurfer USA after a week. In addition, the equipment of the camper was very spartan: neither a broom / shovel nor the connection angle for connecting the waste water hose to the waste water system was provided on the campsite, so that the hose did not have to be connected properly but had to be held.

What a great experience and value for money. We picked up the van in San Fransisco and dropped it back in L.A. after over 3 weeks of driving up around the coast. The staff at both depos were really friendly and made everything easy. The van wasnt brand new but never let us down. Great trip. Great van.

The vehicle was 13 years old and had over 291,000 miles on the clock. During the three-week rental period, we also had a problem with the radiator, which meant we were unable to visit a national park during our holiday in the USA. The towing service and repairs were carried out quickly and without much bureaucracy😀 This vehicle should no longer be rented out. The van also had other defects. Sorry, I can't give a better rating because of this.

We had a great experience with it including a minor setback here and there to the vehicle at the interior. But despite this, the customer service helped us tremendously and we are also definitely very satisfied with the company and vehicle we went out with. Perfect for around town and in nature. Always do check your height with parking and the rest always goes well by itself

Despite the somewhat older vehicle, we had no problems with the vehicle. Unfortunately, the vehicle was not very clean in the driver's compartment and the wind and rolling noises during the journey were quite high. In addition, the fuel consumption of about 14 litres is enormous. For taller people, the bed might be a bit too short. Nevertheless, it was a great experience and the camper has everything you need. It is also great that all kilometres are included in the price.

Although it was well known that the Mighty motorhomes were not the latest models, they were still expected to be in perfect working order. The following problems arose: - The electronic levelling system jammed when extended, and we were unable to set off. An RV technician had to carry out emergency repairs; the spare part was not available - several roller blinds fell down whilst driving - the bathroom door warped and could no longer be closed - the overall condition was in a right state

Great new vehicle with a few drawbacks. The water hose was defective. Couldn't connect it at the 1st campground. Had to buy a new one. The first time we topped up the propane it turned out that the seal was missing. It took us half a day to get a new one, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to cook. The waste water hose was also defective. Wasn't recognisable at first glance. It was disgusting the first time we emptied the black water tank. Everything else was perfect. I would continue to rent my motorhome there.

Collection took quite a long time. Return was uncomplicated. Fresh water hose connections were not tight. But that wasn't a problem. Bedding not suitable for the cold, the hired camping chairs were very cheap. The vehicle itself was fine.

Insurance did not cover everything despite the high price. The kit we paid for did not include a tablecloth, outdoor chairs or a coffee machine. The caravan was new but the furniture inside was of poorer quality and you had to be careful.
