If you rent a motorhome in Orlando and want a long road trip that takes you to Florida’s northernmost beaches, head to Pensacola in the Florida Panhandle. It’s a long 650km route that can be done in one day, but it's best to break it up over a few days to get the most out of it. Along the way, stop at Tallahassee, the capital of Florida, where there are plenty of nature reserves and historic sites to check out.

Orlando to the Everglades
We couldn’t write about campervan routes without mentioning the Everglades. This is a must-visit for any nature lover after they pick up a motorhome for hire in Orlando. The drive is 400km straight down to one of the most unique ecosystems in the world. It is home to wildlife such as alligators, manatees and exotic birds. Along the way, stop at Lake Okeechobee, the largest freshwater lake in Florida, and Big Cypress National Preserve just outside the Everglades. Orlando to Key West

Stay the night and take it all in. Then, carry on the US-1 highway, which stretches over 42 bridges connecting the Florida Keys. Once in Key West, you will know you have arrived by the colourful streets and laidback atmosphere. 

Kennedy Space Centre
As the launch site for NASA’s space missions, Kennedy Space Centre is on the bucket list for anyone who loves science and technology. It's somewhere that all the family will love (even if they are not into space) as there are interactive exhibits and the space shuttle Atlantis experience, where you can get up close and personal with a real space shuttle.

Gatorland
Just 20 minutes south of Orlando is Gatorland, a place perfect for families and animal lovers. The park's highlight is the interactive feeding shows where staff get close to the massive alligators.  They also have a zip line that takes you over a lake filled with alligators, which makes for a unique experience.

Wekiwa Springs State Park
Wekiwa Springs State Park is where you can find one of Florida's best freshwater springs, perfect for swimming, kayaking and paddleboarding. The temperature of the spring is a consistent 22 degrees, making it a great place to cool off when the weather gets hot. Around the park, theres is also the opportunity to hire a bike and ride through some of the forest and wetlands.
