Rent a campervan and get to know Germany with all of its facets
Located in the heart of Europe, Germany with its diverse regions is an ideal travel destination. Whether it's a beach day on the North Sea or Baltic Sea, hikes in the Alps or cultural discovery tours through historic cities - in hardly any other country can you experience so much variety within just a few days. Here it is particularly worthwhile to rent a campervan: You can get to know Germany at your own pace!
Covering an area of around 357,000 square metres, the natural landscapes are unparalleled: from the Nordic lowlands to the high peaks of the Alps. The extension from north to south is just 870 kilometres as the crow flies. See the sea and the mountains in one day? No problem if you rent a campervan to travel around Germany!
If you are looking for deep relaxation in pristine natural landscapes and want to be in harmony with yourself and nature, Germany offers you a rich selection. Start in the far north on the largest German island Rügen, the beauty of which Caspar David Friedrich already recognised. The up to 117 metres high chalk coast as well as the over 700 year old beech forests can be explored here both on foot and by bike, while a fresh sea breeze blows away the cobwebs.
A mixture of old myths and rough landscapes awaits you in the Nationalpark Harz, one of the most popular destinations in Saxony-Anhalt and Lower Saxony. Here, too, it is worth renting a campervan. Germany's low mountain ranges are ideal for exciting discovery tours. Nevertheless, leave your campervan behind for extensive hikes along the Goetheweg or the Harzer-Hexen-Steig and enjoy the fantastic view of Brocken, the highest mountain in the Harz mountains.
Towards the south, the landscape becomes much more mountainous - from the Swabian Alb to the snow-capped peaks of the Alps. Hiking on endless paths, climbing on steep slopes or skiing on winding pistes are just some of the leisure activities that await you in the mountains.
So why does it make sense to rent a campervan? Germany boasts cities steeped in history that are packed with cultural highlights: Hanseatic cities like Hamburg and Lübeck in the north, the Ruhrpott with its pulsating big cities, the dignified Munich in the south and of course the exciting capital Berlin. These cities reflect the cultural and historical diversity of the country and should not be overlooked on a campervan tour!
Campervan offers in Germany
On four wheels through Germany
Germany can be discovered on different routes if you decide to rent a campervan. The following route from south to north is an example:
Your tour starts in the capital of Bavaria, where you should first plan a stay of several days. If you are there at the end of September, the famous Oktoberfest is of course not to be missed. But even outside the folk festival season, Munich knows how to inspire with its Viktualienmarkt, the English Garden and not least the picturesque Neuschwanstein Castle, which is around 120 kilometres from Munich.
Continue your journey to Ingolstadt. The Bavarian city on the Danube is above all a must for car and technology fans - the Audi Museum will tell you the history of the traditional car manufacturer. In Nuremberg, the second largest city in Bavaria, you can immerse yourself in the history of the nation on the Reichsparteitagsgelände and in the Germanisches Nationalmuseum. Families with children, on the other hand, should plan a visit to the Tiergarten before continuing their journey to Bamberg.
Bamberg in Upper Franconia should not be missed if you rent a campervan and travel to Germany. The historic city centre with its picturesque buildings belongs to the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage and is not called "Little Venice" for nothing. Behind the Neue Residenz is the beautifully laid-out rose garden, which not only invites you to take a quiet stroll, but also offers a wonderful view of the Michaelsberg and the old town.
Halle an der Saale was home to the famous composer Georg Friedrich Händel for 18 years - his life and work are therefore still present in the city. For those interested in history, the Museum für Vorgeschichte is worth a visit, while music enthusiasts are drawn to the Beatles-Museum. Afterwards the tour continues to Hamburg. Here, the inner and outer Alster form the impressive scenery of the Hanseatic city, which, in addition to the errant Reeperbahn, is above all known for its selection of musicals. After an extensive shopping tour on Mönckebergstraße, you can continue your journey to the last stop.
If you rent a campervan, Germany's northernmost city, Kiel, must not be missed out. The city is characterised by a maritime flair that you can experience up close at the Schifffahrtmuseum and the Aquarium Kiel. Technology enthusiasts, on the other hand, will be drawn to the Computer Museum. However, you should plan an extensive beach day with the whole family!
