How much does it cost to hire a campervan in the USA?

Rental prices for campervans in the USA vary by region and generally range between £55 and £193 per night, with prices having dropped in 2026. You can often book compact entry-level models at CamperDays from around £24. Depending on the season, desired additional packages (such as premium protection) and for more luxurious, large motorhomes, the final price will be correspondingly higher.

During the nationwide high season (especially in July and August), prices are on average often two to three times higher than in the quieter months. However, as the country is huge, ideal travel times and rates depend heavily on the different climate zones:

Classic summer destinations (e.g. New York, Boston, Seattle): The clear high season here is in the warmer summer months (May to September). If you don't mind the cold or rainy weather, you'll find absolute bargains in the winter half of the year (November to April).
The sunny Southwest (e.g. Los Angeles, Las Vegas): California and Nevada can be visited almost year-round. While summer is extremely popular and more expensive here, spring and autumn also offer fantastic weather and often more relaxed prices.
The tropical South (e.g. Miami, Orlando): In Florida, prices also rise during the international holiday season in midsummer. However, the "Sunshine State" is a wonderful, pleasantly warm and often price-stable alternative to the dreary weather back home, especially during our European winter or spring.

Driving in The USA

Remember that in the USA they drive on the right, it is important to keep this in mind when overtaking or turning.
You can turn right at a red light unless stated otherwise.
You must come to a complete stop at a stop sign. At a 4-way junction with four stop signs, the driver who arrives first goes first. If drivers arrive at the same time the driver on the right goes first.
Speed limits vary from state to state. Make sure to look out for road signs. In urban areas speed limits are generally 25-30 mph and for motorways they range from 65-80 mph.
