Best Campervan Routes

Here at CamperDays we aren’t only campervan experts, as we also have lots of great tips. Below you will find a small list of campervan routes:

  • Route 66: It starts in Chicago and it goes through eight different states. Along the way you can visit national parks, see quirky roadside attractions and take pictures of the breathtaking scenery. There is lots to do and see so make sure to allow enough time to explore this exciting route.

  • Blue Ridge Parkway : On this route there are lots of beautiful green mountains, which have several hiking trails just waiting to be explored. There are also ancient rock formations and spectacular waterfalls. It will take around 2-5 days and it starts in Cherokee and passes through the amazing Pisgah National Forest, several state parks, Roanoke and ends at the Shenandoah National Park.

  • Florida Highway 1: Highway 1 in Florida runs almost the full length of the state’s Atlantic Coast before ending in spectacular Key West. This route takes 6 days and it goes through lots of great places such as St Augustine, Canaveral National Seashore, Fort Lauderdale and then ending at South Beach.

Driving in The USA

Traffic rules with a motorhome
  • Remember that in the USA they drive on the right, it is important to keep this in mind when overtaking or turning.

  • You can turn right at a red light unless stated otherwise.

  • You must come to a complete stop at a stop sign. At a 4-way junction with four stop signs, the driver who arrives first goes first. If drivers arrive at the same time the driver on the right goes first.

  • Speed limits vary from state to state. Make sure to look out for road signs. In urban areas speed limits are generally 25-30 mph and for motorways they range from 65-80 mph.

Things To Do and See

  • Everglades National Park: It is home to alligators, American crocodiles, Florida panthers and lots of other species. One of the best ways to experience the Everglades is to go on an airboat ride to see lots of different types of wildlife. It is one of the largest national parks in the country, which offers a unique experience.

  • Grand Canyon: This is a must see when visiting the USA. If you like hiking, then the Rim Track is one of the most popular hikes in the Grand Canyon. The route is 13 milesand it goes from South Kaibab to Hermit’s Rest. Along the way you will visit the Grand Canyon Village, Mojave Point and Monument Creek Vista.

  • Zion National Park: This national park is in Utah and there are lots of great places to go hiking. The West Rim Trail or Angels Landing are two great hiking routeswhich offer fantastic views of the different and very old rock formations. Make sure you plan enough time to visit this fabulous national park as there is lots to see.

  • Ferry Beach, Scarborough: This beach is less known compared to other ones in the local area, but it is ideal for those who would like to avoid the big crowds. This scenic beach sits inside the mouth of the Nonesuch River and the water is usually quite calm. It is really easy to find a nice spot on the beach where you can relax or go for a dip in the water.
