As you get closer to Coimbra, there are villages and towns to stop at, if you wish, like Obidos, Nazare, and Leiria, before you arrive at your destination.

Lisbon to Porto
If you want to take the A1 motorway and have a much longer, more in-depth exploration of the coast, you could start in Lisbon and drive the 314.1km between it and Porto. From a geological point of view, Sintra-Cascais Natural Park is significant thanks to the rocky outcrops from the Mesozoic age that are in excellent condition regarding visibility and continuity.

Cabo da Roca, otherwise known as Cape Roca
Cabo da Roca is a cape 40km west-northwest of Lisbon. It is a narrow natural formation of granite that measures around 144 metres in height and is part of the Sintra Mountain range. It is most famous for its views of the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean, free of obstruction. In the past, it was thought to be the edge of the world, and it still possesses a sense of unexplainable mystique and awe.
